CAKES

I have discovered a great pleasure: that of making cakes for the loved ones - and not only. Here are a few of my latest creations... From now on, I'll try to take snaps of all the sweets I prepare and then post them on this blog.

This is the cake I made last year for my parents-in-law. It was their 35th wedding anniversary. My mother-in-law has diabetes, so I used fructose to sweeten it. For the center image, I cut out their pictures and stack them to a piece of aluminium foil. They loved it! :)

This was the 2008-New-Year cake. I used plenty of nuts for it... :) The white stars are chocolate.

The cake above was a surprise for my husband's birthday this year. I assembled it in a shirt box. The night before, I placed the box on a table and told my DH that was his gift from me. I had given him shirts before, as he has to wear one every day, so he thought this was the same thing... It took him a few seconds to realize what was going on, and you should have seen the expression on his face! Priceless! :) He got a real kick out of it!

This was a swiss roll I made, with cheese and kiwi fruit (and a section of it). I made this when I tried my skills at modelling flowers of powder-milk paste, and I was really pleased with it...for a beginner. Roses and calla lillies.

This cake was a real treat in the summer days: light, fluffy, with strawberries. It was covered in chocolate and decorated with rose petals.

This one was made for my father-in-law's birthday last month. He was born in June, so I thought a summer theme would be welcome. The chair was made of white chocolate, and the sand is brown sugar. The shells were Belgian chocolate - mmm, yummy! :)

This is the cake I made for my parents-in-law, as they celebrated 35 years of matrimony on July 2, 2008. The bears have their own story... These used to be their nicknames for each other and they have an entire collection of little bears, from crystal to plush. The ones in the picture were made of powder-milk paste. :) They didn't come out as I had pictured them in my mind, but it was the first time I tried this. Maybe next time I'll know what to do better... :)

This Mickey Mouse cake was done for my son's first birthday. We are Mickey's biggest fans! :) Again, it didn't come out exactly the way I wanted, but it's OK, I'll try again in a few years, maybe...

This eggwhite cake was for my sister-in-law. She's not married yet, so this was my way of wishing her to find her Prince Charming... ;)
